Crazy Goals and the Balance of Life

Do you ever sit down and start writing out your goals and think to yourself, “This is crazy, how am I going to accomplish and achieve all of this?” I think we have all had that moment and we know in our minds we can do it, it’s just having the balance to be able to do it.

Between having a full-time job, maintaining your health, having a household to maintain, and a myriad of other things, sometimes getting to those big goals you have can be challenging. Life gets busy, hectic, you’re trying your best to get it all done and there isn’t enough time in the day. Here’s where I can honestly tell you, find balance and know that not every goal has to be accomplished all at once.

When you start the journey of having crazy goals, whether it’s moving to another city, starting a new job, pursuing your passion, living a healthier life, no matter what it is, you have to find time management in your day. It’s laying everything out in what you want to do on a daily basis.

Take things one day at a time, believe me it goes a long way. When I made a crazy goal of self-publishing 60 books, starting a podcast, having my own website with blogs three days a week, it was nuts back in 2016. In my mind, I knew I was going to fulfill all that I wanted to but I had to make sure I had balance.

There were some benefits that helped me along the way. At the time, I had a four day workweek so it allowed me that extra day off to get more done. You may not have that and it’s okay. I knew that focusing on writing a few books would be a good start and that’s what I did.

Next, when it came time to build a website, I failed at quite a few of them on different platforms before I found Jimdo. I say this because failing is a good thing, it allows you to learn, grow and find what you’re looking for or get to where you want to be. Setbacks are okay, don’t feel like because you have one, you’re not getting closer to achieving your goal.

When I decided to do a podcast, I had hundreds of blogs already published on my website. I was doing other content on my podcast for the first year of it before I revamped my podcast to focus on what’s on my mind, motivation and inspiration and book insight into how I write my books. It’s something that’s never been done by an author and I felt that separating myself from others would be the key. The more content and various forms, the better it is for me.

Once I decided to revamp my podcast and focus on what’s on my mind, motivation and inspiration and book insight, I knew I had something. So my crazy goals weren’t a bad thing, it was motivating. It pushed me to limits I didn’t think I could.

My balance came with spending my summers writing books for the next year along with editing, proofreading and setting it up on websites to be published. Blogs would be worked on at the end of the summer into the fall. My podcasts would be recorded three at a time on a Friday or Saturday for the next week as the podcast recordings only take an hour out of my time. Once I set those up to automatically publish on a specific date, I’m good to go.

I still had to maintain food shopping, rent, and everything else that came with it but I had a routine. Sometimes routines help you to stay on track with what you’re doing. Writing out your goals puts it in your mind that you’re willing to do what it takes to accomplish all that you want.

Having a reminder app or ‘to do’ list app as a widget in your phone will surely be a gamechanger. It was for me a few years into my journey and it’s helped me to stay on top of things I want to do and also need to do. A lot of times we have so much going on at once that we lose track of the smaller tasks we need to take care of.

Crazy goals means you're different from others, you’re on a different path in life. You’re going places that you can’t take everyone with you.

That’s my blog for today, thanks for reading, be good and go accomplish your goals!
