Life has surely not been the same the past few years. There’s this innate struggle to get back to normalcy. Or are we never going to really get back to that and it’s time to start looking into changing our lives? There’s questions regarding all of that and we’re all going to have a difference in opinion and thought process. The beauty of that is, there’s nothing wrong with anyone’s thoughts and feelings about this. We all have our share of experiences that shape who we are as people and it’s why this topic is a conversation starter.
What does normalcy look like to you? Is it the routine you’ve had before 2020 or is it something different? Is it being in the gym consistently or going to a sports game again? Maybe it’s traveling again but you haven’t made the time to do it since 2020. Maybe normalcy isn’t working long hours for a company that won’t be loyal to you. Maybe normalcy isn’t striving for the promotion and more pay but it’s having moments and spending time with those you care about the most whether that be family, friends, your significant other or your kids.
My normalcy was a calmer, slower life and being outdoors more. It was having my mental health in a better place, not living the hustle life, writing blogs like this, writing books, impacting people, recording podcasts, having new experiences in life. New York City, the place I’ve lived the majority of my life, wasn't for me anymore. I packed up my life and left. I live in Phoenix, Arizona where life is slower, I go on bike rides daily, I play basketball 1-2 times a week, I get in the pool once a week, there’s a sense of calmness for me.
Normalcy might be different for you now that you see the world in a whole different way after the events of 2020. It’s fair to say that it was a year that changed and shifted the world. Some of us will say for the better and some for the worst depending on how much that year affected you mentally, physically, emotionally, spiritually and financially.
So where does your life go from here? What is your normalcy at this juncture of your life? Take the time to think about it if you haven’t, you’ll be happy you spent time putting the pieces of your puzzle back together where it fits best for your life.
Thanks for reading this blog, be good, and go accomplish your goals!
