The one thing I forget to do sometimes is sit in silence. It’s helpful for me when I need the world to slow down. When there’s a lot of noise pollution going on around me, I need a moment to have quiet for a while. Sometimes I tend to turn on music but there are moments where I don’t need to have that in my ears.
Sitting in silence has helped me to get my mind right. It’s not necessarily meditating, but more of just being. Being in the moment and not having any distractions. No music, television, phone, iPad, social media, people around me, phone calls, text messaging, nothing at all. Just listening to cars drive up and down the street I live on and that’s it.
It helps me to relax and not think too much. Granted a lot is going on in my mind but I try to decompress from all of that. I might think about what’s next for me as far as goals or what I want to do with my life. It gives me personal time for what I can do to achieve greatness.
I try to tell people to not be afraid to sit in their own silence. It’s not going to break them and it surely hasn’t broken me. I’ve somehow become better when I reflect on decisions I’ve made. Some have been good, some have been bad but the bad ones I learn from and get better.
Sitting in silence allows the world to slow down for just a little while when time is moving so fast. Technology, people, distractions, there’s no time for you and I ask that you start to implement this in your life. You’ll surely thank yourself later. Go be great, be good everyone and go accomplish your goals!
