The title of this blog is a sad occurrence that happens to the best of us from time to time. It’s happened to me and there’s always the question of, “how do we get out of the rut of losing our joy?” There are many ways to do it, there’s no “one” thing that cures it all and we’re back to where we want to be.
For starters, taking a brief break from the grind of our journey. It’s okay to take a mental, spiritual and emotional break from what you’re doing. I’ve done it and it does help. I’ve worked for years on my passion with writing blogs, books and having my podcast. I definitely take time away from my podcast, I do it a few weeks a year, I surely don’t have 52 weeks of podcasts.
A few years ago, I lost my love and passion for writing books. I was putting in so much work, time, effort and discipline into it and I wasn’t seeing results. But, I took a break for a little while and got back to it. When I shifted my focus to what I was writing about, people were looking at those books which were great for me.
In the beginning of all of this, I was writing hardcore social issues and as the years have moved forward, writing books about life, not rushing your journey, social issues affecting women, things that go on in the inner city, things shifted and it’s been fulfilling for me.
Sometimes, having different things that you do in your life other than what you’re passionate about helps immensely. Working out, swimming, outdoor sports, reading, listening to music, whatever it is that you like to do outside of your passion, it’s a great way to take a break from the grind of becoming successful.
Don’t feel guilty for losing your passion for what you do. We’re not robots and should want to do things all of the time. Make sure that when you take a break, you get the fuel to keep going and not give up. Giving up is not part of the process so make sure you have the right support system in place to get you through the rut you’re in.
Keep at it, you’re destined for greatness so stay focused.
Thanks for reading my blog, I appreciate it greatly, have a good week, be good and go accomplish your goals!
