The title of this blog is very important and it must be discussed. There’s a lot that goes into writing and it’s truly an art form. No matter how you write, it’s about telling a story. Whether it be in blog form, short story, long story, documentary, poetry, haikus, writing is about art and storytelling.
While it’s not something that’s easy to do and you can learn all of the intricate ways to write, it’s what a person is comfortable with. Writing traditional books was never going to be my thing (I tried and it didn’t work for me). It’s why I find it hard to teach people how to write. What is the right way, or is there a right way?
I know sentences, formatting, words flowing and making sense is imperative but beyond that, is there a perfect way to write anything? It’s why I say that writing is an art form, it’s why I say that you can write anything how you see fit. As long as someone can relate to you and your story, that’s what it’s truly about. It’s connecting with a reader who is reading, processing and absorbing your content.
We fall into this “perfect formatting” or “APA style” in how we write and publish our content. I write in a poetry prose format and it’s surely different from the traditional books that you would read or have been reading since you were younger.
When we take the time to craft a story, building the character, whether they’re a protagonist or antagonist, a backstory, chapter layout and structure, it’s all a process. There’s plenty of elements to this journey to crafting a story that someone will read one day.
If you’re writing a poem or haiku, the writing and flow of it will be different. There’s more passion and feeling into poetry and haikus. The formatting and style of writing is different but it’s more impactful because there’s less words involved. There’s more thought to this style which makes the artistic aspect of it more powerful.
Any subject matter that is written has an art form to it. If you’re writing something educational, people are going to learn from that specific writer’s experiences. If you’re writing self-help, it’s going to be from that writer’s life experiences and other people that may have crossed their paths and that can be motivational and/or inspirational.
Is writing hard? It can be. Is it challenging? Yes it is but it’s not to say that it can’t be done. It’s not to say that you can’t write a story that you feel good about and that can impact and affect others in a positive way.
Writing is an art form and it always will be. Life is about stories and creating them. If you have the ability to think something out, you surely have a story you can write.
That’s my blog for today, thanks for reading as always, be good and go accomplish your goals!
